Riderwood Village Continual Care Community
Silver Spring, MD April 9 - May 17, 2013
Riderwood Village is a continuing care community for seniors located in Silver Spring, MD. During my six weeks here, I had the opportunity to work in the Season's kitchen and The Wye Oak Pub to plan and host a theme meal for residents and employees.
In planning the theme meal, my partner Melissa and I were responsible for developing a theme, finding and developing appropriate recipes, planning the menu, pricing the food, ordering and inventory, marketing, preparation, and cooking for 150 guests.

Riderwood requested we do a cook-out on the newly renovated patio of the Wye Oak Pub. We chose the theme "A Day at the Ballpark," featuring unique foods from stadiums across the country, which we felt would attract a large crowd and take advantage of the warming spring weather and the grill and patio area.
Our menu consisted of 16 different items, all of which we priced out, ordered, prepared and cooked for a forecast of 150 guests. We had approximately 135 people attend.
